Wow! What a busy month February has been. I've been packaging up all your card orders, which have been coming in thick and fast over the last few weeks...lots of Post Office trips. For those that don't know me, as well as an illustrator I am also a netball player for Wasps. At the beginning of February the Vitality Netball Superleague started again - Yay. After almost a whole year of very little netball due to COVID it was so exciting to get playing again. This meant training stepped up and I'm away playing most weekends so my schedule suddenly became a lot busier. If you've never watched netball or are keen to see more, all games are being streamed on the Sky Sports Youtube channel this season. I am very lucky to be able to practice as a freelance illustrator along side my netball so here are a few insights into some of the projects I've been working on throughout February.
The Animal Shambles Zoo
Working on new Children's projects is my favourite! As many of you know I created a card game called Animal Shambles. This went down really well so I thought why not create a story to go alongside it. The animal Shambles Zoo is a Children's picture book about two children (Harry & Laura) who go on a trip to a slightly strange Zoo. As they explore The Animal Shambles Zoo they find lots of weird and wonderful creatures, many of which can be created in the card game too. This book is still a work in progress so I look forward to sharing more with you, but here's a spread and some sketches...
The last year has been very tough for couples planning their weddings. Changing plans, re-organising and changing again! I can imagine it's been quite a stressful and upsetting time to be wedding planning. However, I am very fortunate to be working with some beautiful couples to design their stationary for their big day. Save the Dates, Invites, Order of Services, so much fun! I just love discussing wedding plans with couples to help them out. Digital invites and order of services for Zoom is something I never thought I'd be asked to do but I've loved the challenge and look forward to this next month of lots of wedding designs. Here's a few of my latest finished designs (Save the Dates for the lovely Yaz & Evan and a digital order of service for Michael & Roxy). Lots more to come on the wedding front so I can't wait to update you in a future blog!
I thought I would be quite quiet with commissions after Christmas but it'd been great to have people come to me with their own ideas for gifts, personal and business projects. In my previous blog post I spoke about my landscape illustrations, so it'd been amazing to have a few more of those to work on, alongside some portraits commissions (a new for me) and bible verse illustrations. I am going to go in to more depth about my processes in another post so here are a few of the final outcomes for now...
Cards Cards Cards
Finally I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has ordered cards over February! Selling cards was never something I thought I would be doing but I've really enjoyed starting this small business. Bible verse postcards, Valentines cards, thank you cards, birthday cards and more. It brings me a lot of joy to package up your orders and motivates me to carry on designing and doing up with new ideas for you all! I have some exciting new cards available in my shop.
Stay safe! It's spring...sunnier days are coming!
